As VCR scientist Sarah Karpanty (Virginia Tech) creates long-term data on shorebird migration, Conservatory researchers are asking first, how these nonhuman migrations are interacting with human migrations, and second, how to express those relations acoustically. Becky Brown’s project on bird migrations is Listening to the Virginia Barrier Islands. An undergraduate project led by Alison Glassie reflected on mapping Eastern Shore stories of human migration.
